Work orders are used to increase quantity for built products. Built products are items that are assembled from one of more products in your ecomdash inventory. For example, a built product could be a necklace that’s composed of one chain, one clasp, and one charm.
A built product will have its own unique SKU, as it is a separate product composed of raw materials. When a work order is completed, the quantity for the raw materials is reduced and the quantity for the built product is increased. Using the previous example, if you use a work order to build one necklace, the quantity for the chain, clasp, and charm would be reduced by one and the quantity of the necklace would be increased by one.
Create a Work Order
In order to create a work order, both the built product and the raw materials must exist in your ecomdash inventory. Learn more about creating a built product in ecomdash here.
To create a work order:
1. Navigate to Restock > Work Orders.
2. Select Add New.
3. Confirm the purchase order details, which consist of Work Order # and Requested Complete Date, and choose Create to continue.
4. Select the products you’d like to add to your work order by marking the checkbox and choosing Add to Work Order.
5. Enter the quantity you’d like to build.
6. Submit the work order by choosing Actions > Submit.
Complete a Work Order
Once the work order has been submitted and you’ve completed the build for your products, you’ll need to complete the work order to reduce quantity for your raw materials and increase quantity for your built product.
To complete the work order:
1. Navigate to Restock > Work Orders.
2. Select Open to view work orders that have been submitted, but have not been completed.
3. Choose Actions > View to open the work order you’d like to complete.
4. On the Manufactured tile, select Complete Build.
5. Enter the quantity that was built and select the warehouse where the quantity should be placed. If every item on the work order was built, you can select the Mark All as Built option.
6. Choose Complete Build to complete the work order and update quantity for the built product and raw materials.
If you select “Complete Without Building” before completing the build, the work order will be closed with no updates to your built product or raw materials and you won’t be able to re-open the work order.
